Andrea Ayvazian and Leslea Newman Read from Their Poetry Wed, April 14 at 7 pm

We're celebrating Poetry month with a double bill of Northampton poets!
Andrea Ayvazian is pastor of the Haydenville Congregational Church, and was for several years Dean of Religious Life at Mount Holyoke. She has been a professional singer and has been politically active throughout her life. A poet for most of her life, she has produced several chapbooks, among them Souls Floating By, And So Begin, and The Jesus Poems. Her poem "The Only Sermon" has been widely anthologized and circulated on the Internet.
Leslea Newman is Poet Laureate of Northampton. A winner of numerous literary awards, she has produced several volumes of short fiction, including A Letter to Harvey Milk, and a number of novels, the latest of which is The Reluctant Daughter. She also writes children's books, including Hachiko Waits, and the now-classic Heather Has Two Mommies. The most recent of her multiple volumes of poetry is Nobody's Mother.Location:

Sign up for World Book Group Night--Deadline Feb. 6
Want to be part of a million-book giveaway? You can, as part of World Book Night, on April 23, 2012.
World Book Night is a campaign to put books in the hands of people who read very little or not at all.
You pick the place: hospital or clinic, school, shelter... lots of possibilities. Be creative.
Sign up by February 6 to be a book giver on World Book Night.
Please go the website to read up on its mission, the books you can choose from, and some rules and regulations. All you need to become a giver is a little time, a love of books, and the desire to give something to your community. The books are free--to you and to the people you give them to. Apply to be a giver, then the books come to us, and you pick them up here before April 23.
