We're celebrating Poetry month with a double bill of Northampton poets!
Andrea Ayvazian is pastor of the Haydenville Congregational Church, and was for several years Dean of Religious Life at Mount Holyoke. She has been a professional singer and has been politically active throughout her life. A poet for most of her life, she has produced several chapbooks, among them Souls Floating By, And So Begin, and The Jesus Poems. Her poem "The Only Sermon" has been widely anthologized and circulated on the Internet.
Leslea Newman is Poet Laureate of Northampton. A winner of numerous literary awards, she has produced several volumes of short fiction, including A Letter to Harvey Milk, and a number of novels, the latest of which is The Reluctant Daughter. She also writes children's books, including Hachiko Waits, and the now-classic Heather Has Two Mommies. The most recent of her multiple volumes of poetry is Nobody's Mother.Event date:
