Andrea Hairston Presents Archangels of Funk Tues, May 7 at 7 pm

Archangels of Funk

Andrea Hairston

Archangels of Funk takes us to a world where water is an elemental problem. Floods are causing refugees to flee. And there are other chaos-generating elements at work: the nostalgia militia on the roads and Darknet Lords on the internet. Cinnamon, her circus-bots and two dogs, do what they can to help the flood refugees, with housing, medical care and education, while dealing with threats from the human forces of chaos.

“Archangels of Funk is a tour de force of Afrofunkilicious Black Girl Magic. Like all great speculative fiction, it's about our world as well as this lush imaginary one. Don't miss the majesty of Andrea Hairston in this new call for resistance.” ―Tananarive Due, author of The Reformatory

Novelist, essayist and playwright Andrea Hairston is the artistic director of Chrysalis Theatre. She is Professor of Theatre and Afro-American Studies at Smith College, and is the author of Redwood and Wildfire, Master of Poisons, and Will Do Magic for Small Change.
