Builder Jonathan Wright has just published Living Building Makers, about the process of designing and building the R.W. Kern Center and the Hitchcock Center for the Environement, two environmentally-friendly Living Buildings on the campus of Hampshire College. The book shows us the intricate and innovative thinking and planning that went into the making of these buildings: the goals that the builders set themselves, the problems they had to overcome, the ingenious solutions they found. Engineers, plumbers and electricians, as well as architects and planners are shown playing a vital role in bringing these buildings to life.
The event will be held at The Unitarian Society of Northampton and Florence, and Jonathan will be in conversation with The Rev. Dr. Margaret Bullitt-Jonas, an Episcopal priest who serves a Missioner for Creation Care for the Episcopal Diocese of Western Massachusetts and for the United Church of Christ in Massachusetts.
