Katharine Shields has written a short, direct, and deeply compassionate book about the Buddhist approach to the end of life. Drawing on the insights of a variety of Buddhist thinkers, as well as her own experience as a hospice volunteer, the book is both grounded in the everyday and full of the distilled wisdom of a spiritual practice centuries old. These are nourishing and consoling words, wherever one happens to be on the path of life.
Katharine Shields lived and trained at the San Francisco Zen Center, and has been involved in hospice work in the Valley since 2008.. She lives in Northampton.
