Monarchs of Winghaven

Naila Moreira

In this engaging story for middle-grade readers, Sammie, a young naturalist, finds an abandoned suburban lot with flourishing wildlife, called Winghaven.  Delighted with her secret place, she keeps a field journal where she makes notes and drawings. Soon she meets Bram, a new boy and a fellow naturalist, as devoted to the place as she is. They learn that Winghaven may fall prey to a local developer, and they must do whatever they can to save it.  The book includes field illustrations and real-life notes on keeping a nature journal.
