Scott Brown Presents His New YA Novel, XL, Monday, April 22 at 7 pm

Scott Brown

Will Daughtry is 16 and not quite 5 feet tall, trying to resign himself to his not-impressive height.  His best friends--Drew, 6'3 , who also happens to be his step-brother, and Monica, 5'10, on whom he has a secret crush-- help to reconcile him to his condition.  But then  things take a wholly unexpected turn:  he begins to grow --very fast-- at last attaining a stature he can be proud of.  But that stature comes at a price, and the phrase "growing pains" takes on more meanings than one as his new height begins to have an unexpected impact on his life.

Scott Brown (5'4") is a prolific writer of nonfiction, theater, and television. As a journalist and arts critic, he's worked for EW, New York, Wired, GQ, and Time magazines, among others. In television, he wrote for the critically acclaimed drama Manhattan, and he is currently a writer and producer on HBO's Sharp Objects, from the novel by Gillian Flynn.
